Coming soon page design with WordPress

Creating a “Coming Soon” page for your WordPress website can be a great way to generate buzz and capture early subscribers or interest before your site officially launches. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to create a “Coming Soon” page in WordPress:

1. Install a “Coming Soon” Plugin

There are several WordPress plugins available that allow you to easily create a “Coming Soon” page. Some popular options include:

  • SeedProd
  • Under Construction
  • WP Maintenance Mode

For this guide, we’ll use SeedProd as an example, but the process is similar for other plugins.

2. Install SeedProd Plugin

  1. From your WordPress dashboard, navigate to Plugins > Add New.
  2. Search for “SeedProd”.
  3. Click “Install Now” next to the SeedProd plugin and then “Activate”.

3. Configure the Coming Soon Page

  1. In your WordPress dashboard, you’ll now see a new menu item named SeedProd. Click on it.
  2. Choose between “Coming Soon Mode” and “Maintenance Mode”. For a brand new site, you’ll typically choose “Coming Soon Mode”.
  3. Click on “Edit Page” to begin designing your Coming Soon page.

4. Design Your Page

Using SeedProd’s drag-and-drop builder, you can:

  • Add your logo.
  • Add a headline and a brief message explaining what visitors can expect.
  • Add images or videos for visual appeal.
  • Include an email subscription form to capture early interest.
  • Connect to social media profiles.
  • Set a countdown timer if you know your launch date.

5. Customize Settings

  1. Access Control: You can whitelist specific IP addresses to view the full site while it’s in Coming Soon mode.
  2. SEO: While in Coming Soon mode, it’s crucial to set your page for search engines to index it. Add a meta title, description, and toggle the option for search engine visibility.
  3. Design: Customize background colors, fonts, and other design elements to align with your branding.

6. Activate the Coming Soon Page

Once you’re satisfied with the design and settings:

  1. Go back to the main SeedProd settings page.
  2. Ensure “Coming Soon Mode” is enabled.
  3. Save changes.

Your Coming Soon page is now active, and visitors will see this page until you’re ready to launch your site.

7. Deactivating the Coming Soon Page

When you’re ready to launch:

  1. Return to the SeedProd settings in your dashboard.
  2. Click on “Deactivate” or switch the mode off.
  3. Save changes.

Your website will now be live and accessible to all visitors!
